The Multinational Experiment (MNE) series, which are led by U.S. Joint Forces Command, began in 2001 to develop better ways to plan and conduct coalition operations. A campaign cycle generally lasts about two years and uses a building block approach of workshops and experiments that are distributed among multinational partners. This program provides opportunities to explore new concepts and capabilities for multinational and interagency operations, namely relating to the planning, conduct and assessment of operations. Participation in the MNE series has steadily increased over the years; the MNE community is now made up of 18 nations (with a majority of European nations) as well as NATO/ACT (Allied Command Transformation).
